The easing of the labor market continues: at the end of March, 335,887 people in Austria were registered as unemployed or in training with the AMS. The unemployment rate has fallen to 6.3 percent, the lowest since 2008, the AMS announced Friday.
The fall in unemployment is due on the one hand to the falling number of unemployed people and, on the other hand, to increasing employment. 261,917 people were unemployed, 73,970 people in training. In addition, 161,114 people are pre-registered for short-time working.
Lowest point in ten years also in absolute figures
The number of job seekers in March was not only below the pre-crisis level of 368,979 people, but also at the absolute lowest level in ten years. At the end of March, about 26,000 fewer people were registered early for short-time work than at the end of February.
