Three years later – cook strangled: ex-husband arrested in Schwechat

Date:

In April 2020, cook Daniela S. (32) was strangled. Since then, her ex-husband has been wanted on an arrest warrant. He had been hiding in Thailand and now wanted to go to Poland – but detectives stopped his escape at Schwechat Airport – the hunt is over.

Thursday morning the trap sprung: caught! After Mirko S., who was wanted on an international arrest warrant, passed customs control at the airport, the handcuffs clicked.

Detectives from the Schwechat city police command (SPK) were already on the lookout for the 42-year-old German. “He was so perplexed that there was not the slightest resistance,” said an investigator. Any attempt to escape would have been futile. Three heavily armed men in uniform had secured escape routes.

With this arrest, the criminals captured a suspected murderer of women whose callous hypocrisy had made headlines in Germany.

Let’s look back: On April 22, 2020, the already divorced Daniela and Mirko met to discuss matters. According to investigations, the man then followed his ex-wife to the banks of the Panke River in Bernau (Brandenburg) – and murdered her there. According to the medical examiner’s office, the cook was strangled with a zip tie.

The next day, Mirko S. reported a missing person to the police. When he ‘found out’ that his ex’s body was found there, he howled like a castle dog and even asked for help finding the perpetrator. When the investigation noose was later tightened around his neck, he went into hiding in Thailand for three years.

In the meantime, Mirko no longer sees a palm beach, but only the area around Korneuburg prison until the extradition.
