Pensioner was scammed – “gifted” dishes cost him a lot of money

Date:

A stranger provided free services to a 79-year-old man on the street. Only a short time later the man suddenly asked for a lot of money for the supposedly expensive porcelain – and received it.

“I have to go to the airport quickly.” – It was just a few words that a stranger shouted on the street to a pensioner (79) in Krems. He has just come from a fair in St. Pölten and has to go to Geneva. Almost in the same breath he handed the 79-year-old a set of dishes. He explained that he couldn’t take it with him and would give it to him, leaving the clerk puzzled.

But just a few minutes later, the man seemed to change his mind. He turned back because he suddenly remembered that the service was actually quite expensive. And so expensive that he couldn’t possibly give it away. “You should actually ask a lot of money for that,” he told the 79-year-old.

Even acquaintances brought money
He was immediately convinced of the value of the dishes. He immediately paid 300 euros in cash and drove to the nearest ATM together with the fraudster, who is said to be around 40 years old and of southern origin. There the victim collected another 400 euros. But the criminal convinced him that even that did not do justice to the supposedly expensive porcelain. So the Kremser also picked up the phone to call an acquaintance. He arrived with another 300 euros in his wallet.

The unknown man immediately ran off with 1,000 euros in loot. Upon later inspection, the dishes turned out to be cheap goods – advertisement!
