Tragic accident in Hallein: A 51-year-old woman from Tennengau fell during the descent of the Großer Barmstein on Sunday afternoon and died.
The Hallein family went on a trip to the Großer Barmstein on Sunday. During the descent, father and son were leading the way on steeper terrain when the 51-year-old mother suddenly fell about 100 meters over steep terrain. Hikers going up immediately alerted emergency services.
Rescue helicopters, mountain rescue services and Alpine police quickly arrived on the scene. “The woman died immediately from her serious injuries,” said Franz Klausner, head of operations at the Hallein mountain rescue service. The nine mountain rescuers could only save the woman from death; the Libelle helicopter team flew her into the valley.
