The motorcycle ride of a 26-year-old from Murtal ended extremely tragically on Sunday: The young man was driving on the Schoberpass national road when a car suddenly turned off a side street. Despite taking evasive action, the motorcyclist collided with the car and died at the scene of the accident from his serious injuries.
Sunday once again offered perfect weather for motorcyclists. In Trieben the journey ended fatally for a 26-year-old Styrian. Shortly after noon, the Murtaler was driving on the B113 Schoberpass-Bundesstraße from Trieben towards Rottenmann when a 72-year-old driver suddenly turned left onto the main road from a connecting road. According to the police, the man from Upper Styria must have overlooked the motorcyclist.
Attempt to dodge failed
According to witnesses, the motorcyclist tried to get out of the way. He had turned his motorcycle on its side before the collision, but his body slid into the rear of the car.
Unfortunately, all help for the 26-year-old came too late; he succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.
