A drunken 19-year-old struck in Graz as her friend, who was also drunk, was being treated by the rescue team. A first responder was also injured. In court, the student escaped without conviction. She only has to pay a fine of 500 euros.
A woman from Styria had the bitter experience on Tuesday that justice is not always the issue in court. It was about a Red Cross mission in Graz. The woman called emergency services because of a drunk teenager.
Waiting for father when student struck
“When we arrived, her condition was quite good again. We called her father and waited with her,” said one of the paramedics. But suddenly a heavily drunk 19 year old thought she had to help her new best friend (the other drunk). She hit the first responder first and then the emergency workers.
“I’m tough,” the paramedic said. But his colleague was injured. But thank goodness that doesn’t happen often. “Most of the time we are confronted with verbal abuse.” The care worker suffered from the attack for much longer.
“No time for community service”
Because the suspected 19-year-old did not do her community service (“I am in my second year of training and am currently trying to get my driver’s license. I don’t have time”), she had to go to court for the second time. “If you don’t work, you pay,” judge Raimund Frei complained. Means a fine of 500 euros. “Excellent. “Have a nice day,” the student said, glad there were no more social hours.
The victim was less happy: “She gets away scot-free and I have to learn to live with that. Awesome!” Justice probably looks a little different.
