A 59-year-old worker suffered life-threatening injuries in a serious forestry accident in Gerlos in Tyrol’s Zillertal on Thursday afternoon. He had to be rescued from the helicopter and flown to the clinic.
The accident took place on Thursday around 3.20 pm in the Schönachtal between Lackenalm and Issalm. The 59-year-old Serb and two colleagues (25 and 47) were chopping wood. As the police describe, a tree broke during the work and hit the forest worker. The man fell to the ground and lay motionless.
The emergency medical helicopter was alerted and rescued the 59-year-old with a rope. He was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck with life-threatening injuries.
