Former US President Donald Trump is said to have shared secret information about nuclear submarines. As US media reported, he told details to an Australian businessman over dinner. He then allegedly spread the information.
The incident reportedly took place after Trump’s term in office at his private estate, Mar-a-Lago, Florida. It became public when the Australian billionaire was questioned by the prosecutor about Trump. The businessman’s name does not appear in the indictment.
According to the New York Times, Trump did not show the man classified material, but only talked about it. He allegedly told him how many nuclear warheads were on board the submarines and how close they could get to Russian boats without being noticed. The Australian then passed on this information.
The process starts in May
Trump must fight legally on several fronts. The Republican is accused, among other things, of illegally storing highly sensitive information from his time as American president in private rooms. These include, for example, secret documents containing information about the US nuclear capabilities and the country’s military contingency plans. With the documents, events are said to have taken place in the building.
The Federal Police FBI searched his properties in August 2022 and seized various classified information there. Trump pleaded not guilty when the charges were filed, the first federal indictment against him. The trial starts on May 24.
