Referendum at Michelin to decide on a possible departure from the intercenter committee

The Michelin staff of Vitoria-Gasteiz are celebrating between this Friday and Monday Next week there will be a referendum on the departure of the Intercentral Committee, a measure linked to the rejection of the workers at the Alava factory from the agreement approved last June by the factories in the rest of the Spanish state that be part of said body.

This vote ends on Monday nightso that the results are known that same evening or early Tuesday morning.

In this context, the management of the Michelin factory in Vitoria-Gasteiz has announced this will stop producing 2,000 tons of tires until the end of the year for civil works vehicles: a reduction compared to 2023 production forecasts, due to “loss of confidence” of the business group regarding the Vitorian plant, as a result of the labor disputes recorded in recent months during the negotiations on the factory agreement .

In view of this measure and these arguments, LABORATORYwhich is in favor of the departure of the intercentric committee, has denounced that the factory’s management is trying to condition the referendum by “scaring” the workforce with its warnings about a production cut.

The trade union organization has stated that this low production situation at the end of the year “has been repeated over the past three years” and that the allusions to a “loss of confidence” by the group in the workforce of the Alava factory as another possible example reason for the above-mentioned production reduction “demonstrate the clear undemocratic nature of the company.”

LAB has called on staff to take part in the referendum to be held on October 6 and 9 as it is “now, more than ever, important to show that If we work here, we want to negotiate here our working conditions”.
