On Sunday evening, a dangerous knife attack took place in the garden of a nightclub in Vienna-Ottakring. The 36-year-old had previously sprayed pepper spray indiscriminately into the crowd, injuring several people.
Witnesses immediately alerted the police. When a security guard (25) and a local guest (26) tried to stop the alleged perpetrator with pepper spray, the 36-year-old suddenly pulled out a pocket knife and brutally stabbed them both with it. Shortly afterwards the suspect fled.

When police officers arrived, they managed to arrest the suspect near the nightclub. Both the pepper spray and the pocket knife that the 36-year-old had thrown away during his escape have been confiscated.

The two victims who were injured by stab wounds received emergency medical care from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and were taken to a hospital. One of the men required surgery. Local guests who were injured by the pepper spray were treated on site. The police started an investigation. So far, the suspect has remained silent about the reason for the pepper spray attack.
