Strangers in the Tyrolean lowlands pulled off a very expensive ‘prank’: the perpetrators hid a stainless steel plate in a field of fodder maize in Radfeld (Kufstein district), causing damage to the chopper during harvesting. The material damage is enormous.
The unknown persons had probably already hidden the metal part a few days ago in the field near Maukenbach. According to police, the stainless steel plate was attached to the stem of a corn plant with black tape. This inevitably led to disaster on Sunday afternoon.
Most of the conveyor belt drive is damaged
Around 12:30 p.m., the 36-year-old driver of the forage harvester started harvesting the corn. He hadn’t been working long when he heard a loud bang: the chipper had pulled in the metal part. Some of the machine’s rotating cutting blades were damaged, the cracked parts of which in turn affected the drive of the conveyor belt, a large part of which was seriously damaged.
The damage caused by the vandalism is enormous: it amounts to an amount of five-figure euros.
