A total of 2.5 tons of trash caught fire in the back of a garbage truck while it was moving on Monday. The driver was able to stop in time in the area of Eberstein (Carinthia).
Around 9:49 a.m. Sunday, the driver and his passenger suddenly noticed smoke coming from the cargo area of the dump truck near Grumetter. The 47-year-old had the presence of mind to stop the truck at a bus stop on Görtschitztal Straße and empty the trash.
No injuries
After the 2.5 tons of waste had been extinguished by the Eberstein and Brückl fire brigades, they could be loaded and removed again. Fortunately, no one was injured. The truck also suffered no damage.
