High therapy costs – An entire village raises money for three-year-old Lilly

Date:

Little Lilly suffers from an extremely rare, life-threatening nut allergy. The therapy in the US costs about 80,000 euros, which the family cannot afford. But the people of Haiming help together and probably make the dream come true. The weekend charity festival was one piece of the mosaic.

Everyone against everyone – that seems to be the global motto lately. In Haiming, however, the motto is “all for one”. Three-year-old Lilly has suffered from a life-threatening allergy to nuts since she was one year old. Traces of nuts are ‘hidden’ in most foods. And even those are enough to cause suffocation in the worst case.

There is only one hope in the fight against the extremely rare disease: immunotherapy in the clinic of the Food Allergy Institute in the US/California. However, with a total amount of around 80,000 euros, this cannot be financed by the Haiminger family.

Mother was moved to tears
The parents, who had already lost courage, were convinced to open an online donation account, Mayor Michaela Ofner set up a second one – something big started. The residents of Haiming also agreed: they spontaneously organized a barbecue last weekend to donate the net proceeds. And he won’t be modest. “We were sold out for the first time at 1 p.m.,” says an impressed village boss.

It felt like the whole village came together in the village square. And when Ofner announced the interim donation status, the applause was thunderous: “So far, 62,000 euros have been raised on both accounts.” The mother, moved to tears, thanked her a thousand times and looked up at the sky, where her husband was on his way to California with Lilly.

This process must be followed four times a year for three years. But the parents are optimistic and according to the doctors the chance of success is high.
