In central China, a chain collision with hundreds of vehicles and one death broke out on Wednesday. Sudden fog led to the collision on a highway near Zhengzhou in Henan province, state broadcaster CCTV reported, citing local authorities.
According to state media, at least 200 vehicles collided, killing one person. Aerial photos showed cars, vans and trucks stuck on a bridge on the affected section of the highway.
Other videos online showed the battered remains of numerous vehicles that had crashed into each other. Twitter even talks about a maximum of 400 vehicles that would be involved in the collision.
Road accidents are common in China due to a lack of safety controls. In September, 27 people were killed when a bus taking them to quarantine facilities in the southwest of the country overturned.
