The part-time boom in Austria has several causes, but it cannot be stopped. 50 percent of all women work less than full-time and earn correspondingly less. Many people would like to extend their working hours: about three in ten women who work part-time say this, and 37 percent of men who work part-time express this wish. On the other hand, about 40 percent of full-time working women want to reduce their hours, and 30 percent of men do.
