Call to the police – bloody act in Wagna: ‘I stabbed my father’

Date:

In southern Styria (Wagna, Leibnitz district), police and prosecutors are investigating a suspected murder and subsequent suicide after two bodies were found on Tuesday evening. According to the initial findings, the suspect himself informed the police after the crime, after which he committed suicide.

On Tuesday evening around 7:15 p.m., the police were called with an emergency call. One man said, among other things, that he had just stabbed his father. Before it was possible to ask more precise questions, the man ended the call and hung up.

Contact with son is no longer possible
Several police patrols and the Cobra task force were immediately sent to the scene. The southern negotiating group was also immediately warned. However, it was no longer possible to contact the man again. On site, special forces eventually found a dead man in the meadow on the grounds of the single-family home. This is probably the 38-year-old from southern Styria who made the emergency call. He had a gunshot wound. A firearm registered in his name was also found in the meadow next to him.

The emergency doctor could only determine death
Police officers then found another male body in the kitchen of the home. This is apparently the 80 year old father. The stab wounds mentioned in the emergency call were visible. An emergency doctor could only determine that the man was dead. Police also found the suspected murder weapon, a kitchen knife, at the crime scene.

Girlfriend probably didn’t notice the crime
During a search, special forces also encountered the partner of the 38-year-old (48). She was on the top floor of the house at the time of the crime and was surprised by the arrival of the police. She probably did not notice this incident and remained unharmed. Police officers brought the woman to safety. She is being cared for by the crisis intervention team.

An autopsy must determine the cause of death
Murder investigators and crime scene officers from the Styrian State Criminal Investigation Department (LKA) began the investigation in the evening hours. The Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office has already commissioned experts in firearms and forensic medicine to conduct the investigations. They got an initial overview of the crime scene at night. The two bodies were seized. An autopsy will now have to clarify the exact cause of death. In the meantime, investigations and further interviews are underway to clarify the exact background of the crime.
