Austrian kidnapped – terrorists kidnapped family with two children

Date:

After the terrorist attacks by Hamas, concern about Austrian-Israeli citizens is also growing. A return operation of the armed forces from the crisis area will begin on Wednesday. The first people to return home are in shock.

Early Tuesday morning, the following terrible news came from the war zone: three Austrian-Israeli dual nationals were reportedly among those kidnapped or even murdered in Gaza. Apparently it concerns three middle-aged or advanced men; at least two of them have only recently received Austrian citizenship. They are descendants of Nazi expelled people who are entitled to the red-white-red passport.

Family with two missing children
According to initial information, one victim is 38-year-old Tal Shoham. The father of the family, together with his wife and two children (3 and 8 years old), were surprised by attackers in Kibbutz Be’eri. Contact with family members was lost and the worst was feared.

Return campaign starts
Preparations were made in Vienna to bring fellow countrymen back home. The route takes a federal army plane from Tel Aviv to Paphos in Cyprus, from there by scheduled flight to Austria. The evacuation is being carried out by the Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense: “The situation on the ground is confusing and uncertain. We will not abandon the Austrians and get them out of the dangerous situation as quickly as possible,” said Minister Klaudia Tanner. According to reports, the first evacuation flight will depart today.

At the same time, the murdered people will be commemorated today from 6:30 PM on Ballhausplatz in Vienna under the motto #standwithisrael. “The barbarity of the Islamists is boundless,” said Oskar Deutsch, the president of the Israeli Community, in shock. “Everyone in our country who values life above death is invited to participate.”

“Krone” at the airport: shock for those returning home
While AUA and Co. had to cancel their flights, two “El Al” planes from Tel Aviv landed at Schwechat Airport (Lower Austria) on Monday evening. The passengers were all in severe shock. As they described to “Krone”, everyone had to wait in bomb shelters and saw rockets whizzing through the air. In some cases the alarm was raised at the airport in Israel. After sleepless nights, everyone was happy to be back on safe ground.
