It took seven years for Google to officially launch its Pixel smartphone brand in Austria. Now the time has come – and in addition to the new Pixel 8 generation, there is a slimmed-down version, the Pixel 7A, for less than 500 euros. Not a bargain for a ‘mobile phone for people’. But it has extras that other devices don’t have.
Google uses the suffix ‘A’ to identify the cheaper mid-range of its Pixel family. It incorporates technology from last year’s high-end models and aims to make it accessible to a wide audience. In the Pixel 7A you will not find the latest Google technology, which is reserved for the Pixel 8 series, but rather last year’s hardware such as the Tensor 2 CPU from the Pixel 7 generation. A drawback? We tested it.
