Two fire brigades, 15,000 liters of water and foam were needed to extinguish a burning truck on the Pötschen Pass in Bad Goisern (Upper Austria) on Wednesday evening. The load, part of which was still burning, had to be lifted from the trailer with the help of fire trucks. The cause of the fire was probably the engine.
On Wednesday around 4:30 p.m., the emergency services were called to the Pötschen Pass in Bad Goisern: a truck was on fire.
Road closed
According to the fire brigade, an engine fire may have been the cause of the fire. As a result, the pass road had to be closed in both directions for approximately two hours.
“About 15,000 liters of water were needed, of course with the help of foaming agents,” reports Günter Rainer, honorary commander of the FF Bad Goisern, after the operation. The Floriani had to lift the trailer’s load – cardboard boxes with packaging material – out of the truck, part of which was still burning because it was not possible to completely extinguish it from the outside.
As a result of the truck fire, one person was taken to hospital in Bad Ischl by the rescue team with minor injuries. From about 6:45 p.m. a trail on the Pötschen Pass was passable again.
