A Tyrolean pensioner is annoyed at the post office: the parcel deliverer did not ring the doorbell. The post office responds that this is not true and defends the delivery person.

At exactly 11:16 am the delivery person rang the doorbell
When asked by Krone, a post office spokesperson could not confirm the recipient’s claims: it is documented that the delivery person rang the apartment complex’s intercom system at 11:16 a.m. on the day in question. “Because no one responded, the package was delivered to the postal partner, where it was ready to be picked up the same day,” the post office spokesperson explains.
“We have to protect our delivery person here“
Spokesman Markus Leitgeb also describes the delivery person’s approach: “He rings the doorbell, waits about 30 seconds and then rings the bell again. A problem especially for older people
But the problem remains: what do the elderly do if the packages they order are too heavy for them and if home delivery is not possible – for whatever reason? The Swiss Post sees the responsibility here as recipients, but the elderly in particular are dependent on the help of those around them. The percentage of successfully delivered packages is well above 90 percent. At least that’s what the post office claims…
