Jealousy of “Ex” – attempted murder in apple village: harvest worker arrested

In Puch near Weiz in Eastern Styria, wild scenes already took place last Saturday: a love triangle between harvest workers escalated, a Romanian out of jealousy strangled an opponent with a belt and almost killed him. He took a taxi from his home country to commit the crime.

The apple harvest in Puch near Weiz is currently in full swing and many harvest workers from Romania are stationed there. However, on Saturday the situation escalated in a shelter in the apple village: a Romanian (31) could not cope with the fact that his ‘ex’ had chosen someone else. To pick her up, he drove from Romania to Styria. He got into a taxi for the long journey.

Taxi driver took away knife
Dark scenarios must have played out in his head, because while driving he grabbed a knife from the taxi driver. When he arrived at the accommodation in Puch, he banged on the door and entered. “Come home with me or I will kill you!” he allegedly shouted at his ex-wife in front of her new boyfriend, but she refused.

When the angry 31-year-old saw her current boyfriend, he grabbed a belt, put it around his compatriot’s neck and tightened it! Just in time someone intervened. The attacker then fled but was caught. The murder weapons were confiscated and a police dog from the Graz Service Dog Inspectorate sniffed the knife in a bush.

Suspect in custody
“The proceedings are pending. “The suspect is in custody at the request of the Graz public prosecutor,” spokesman Hansjörg Bacher confirmed the incident at the request of the “Krone”.
