A 20-year-old Syrian was pushed off a bridge over the Danube by a local resident in Regensburg, Bavaria, on Friday. He was seriously injured. The background and course of the crime are still unclear; the police are investigating an attempted manslaughter.
The crime took place on the Stone Bridge, a historic monument in Regensburg. Passersby held the 28-year-old suspect, so that he could be arrested by the police on the spot a short time later.

According to media reports, the victim fell several meters onto a stone bridge pier. The young man had to be rescued by the fire brigade and taken to hospital. The investigators asked eyewitnesses for information.
