The domestic army’s black streak continues. After the fatal tank accident in Lower Austria, a helicopter crashed in Upper Austria on Thursday evening. One soldier was seriously injured.
Just a few days after a young officer (24) from Upper Austria died in a serious accident in Allentsteig (Lower Austria), another serious incident shocked the public.
Startup problems
On Thursday around 8 p.m., an army helicopter landed in Pramet in the Innviertel – as part of a rescue exercise. Moments later, the Agusta Bell 212 helicopter would take off again. There were problems and the pilot could no longer hold the plane.
Everyone survived
The helicopter crashed and immediately caught fire. “All six occupants were able to leave the helicopter,” the Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident when asked by the “Krone”. According to initial information, one soldier was seriously injured in the accident, while all others escaped relatively unscathed. Four local fire departments attended. The investigation into the crash began immediately.
Tank victim is buried
Only on Monday was Corporal N. (24) from St. Martin im Innkreis buried by a 60-ton ‘leopard’. Here too, the investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing. The young man will be buried with full military honors in his home community on Saturday.
