Trees uprooted – First storm operations due to hurricane surges in Lungau

Date:

Hurricane winds of up to 200 kilometers per hour reach Salzburg. On Friday morning, several trees on Tamsweg were uprooted and blocked the road.

As the “Krone” had already reported, hurricane gusts will reach the state of Salzburg on Friday. In the Lungau there was already a very strong wind blowing in the morning. The volunteer fire brigade had to go on a mission in the Tamsweg.

“Strong gusts of wind uprooted several trees and blocked the L262 (Preber-Landesstrasse),” the fire brigade said in a press release. The twelve members of the Tamsweg fire brigade removed the trees with a chainsaw and cleared the road. After 45 minutes the operation was over.

The state of Salzburg continues to ask everyone to be careful. Walks in parks or forests should be avoided.
