A dramatic traffic accident took place at an intersection on Linzer Landstrasse on Friday afternoon: a 98-year-old woman with a walker was hit and run over by a 36-year-old’s truck near the Volksgarten.
The 36-year-old truck driver from Linz stood with his four-axle concrete mixer on the country road towards Goethestrasse and waited until his journey was free so that he could drive to a construction site there. At the same time, the 98-year-old pedestrian crossed the street with her walker towards the tram stop.
A “jerking” was noted
When the pensioner stood near the right front bumper, the truck drove away without seeing the pedestrian. The driver noticed a jerk immediately after starting and immediately stopped his vehicle.
The 98-year-old had already been run over by the truck and was seriously injured. After the first treatment she was admitted to hospital.
