Police continue to search for the people who tore an Israeli flag from the Vienna city temple on Saturday evening. At the same time, property protection for the main synagogue was extended 24 hours a day, Vienna police said on Sunday morning.
The incident became known via a video on Saturday evening. You see a young man tear down the flag on the shoulders of another (see video). A young woman standing nearby imitates a machine gun. Police said a witness to the incident tried to stop the woman. During the attempt, he was allegedly stopped by several strangers and beaten by a man. As a result, he suffered facial injuries.
The search for the perpetrators has so far been unsuccessful
The flag was seized by officials who had now been alerted. A search for the suspected perpetrators was unsuccessful. The video footage was backed up from cameras in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene.

Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) “strongly” condemned the incident on Twitter (X). There is no place in society for anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel. He assumes that the perpetrators will be identified quickly.
