Spectacular accident on Sunday in the Tyrolean lowlands: a van with five Romanian passengers on board, including a nine-year-old child, came off the road in Walchsee (Kufstein district). The transporter then overturned and came to rest on its side in the field. Who was behind the wheel is currently still a mystery.
The traffic accident happened shortly after noon. The Romanian group drove in a transport truck along Walchseestrasse towards Kössen. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the steering wheel in a right bend.
The car left the road and overturned. It eventually came to a stop in the adjacent field on the driver’s side.
Total damage to the vehicle
The occupants – two men, two women and a nine-year-old boy – escaped relatively lightly and suffered only minor injuries. The rescue took her to the hospital in Kufstein. However, the vehicle was a total loss.
It is still completely unclear who was driving the van at the time of the accident. Investigations are underway, researchers say. The Walchsee fire brigade, the rescue service, an emergency medical helicopter and the police were present.
