“I was never a typical girl. Even in kindergarten, I preferred to play in the corner of the study and looked like a boy to the people in the village. “I wore long hair and dresses for my first communion and confirmation, but otherwise only pants,” says Julian Nitzky, 21, in a deep voice, rubbing his luscious, hairy chin. The kindergarten teacher and community worker, who lives and works in a community on the border between Burgenland and Lower Austria, is transgender.
