It was a stupid move for a lead foot on the southern highway: the driver actually wanted to use the laser blocker to keep the police at bay – instead, the jamming device ended up being his downfall.
The officers of the Klagenfurt highway police could hardly believe their eyes at first: when they were carrying out speed checks with a laser measuring device at the Wörthersee rest stop in the morning, a car drove past them at very high speed. Which was also clearly visible to the naked eye.
Only the laser measuring device showed nothing. However, the experienced police officers did not believe there was a technical problem and had specific suspicions. So they stepped on the gas themselves and gave chase. Which came to an end after just a few kilometers: the speeding offender was arrested in Velden.
Jamming device removed and seized
And during the vehicle inspection, the trained officers’ suspicions were confirmed: the man from Villach had installed a laser blocker in his car. The police then had the jamming device professionally removed in a workshop and confiscated. The 57-year-old driver “can” expect a hefty charge.
