Belgian authorities have arrested a man in connection with the terrorist attack in Brussels ten days ago. The Public Prosecution Service announced on Thursday that an arrest warrant has been issued against a 44-year-old Tunisian for murder and attempted murder in a terrorist context.
According to the report, he was picked up on Wednesday in Tervuren, Belgium. Prosecutors initially only confirmed a possible connection to the weapon used in the Oct. 16 attack. But the man is also accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization.
Two football fans killed
Two Swedish fans were killed last week in an attack on the sidelines of a European Football Championship qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden. The Islamist terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the crime.
The Tunisian attacker was shot dead by police a day later. According to Italian authorities, it had been known since 2016 that he was an Islamist.
