A serious rear-end collision occurred on the A12 Inntal highway in the Tyrolean lowlands in the early morning hours on Friday: a Belarusian truck driver overlooked the end of the traffic jam and hit a Dutchman’s truck at full speed. Both drivers were slightly injured and the trucks were seriously damaged.
The serious accident took place on the A12 near Langkampfen (Kufstein district). The 57-year-old Dutchman drove his truck from Germany towards Innsbruck. Due to the busy freight traffic, there were repeated traffic jams in the first lane.
End of traffic jam noticed too late
The Belarusian (32) who is driving behind the Dutchman may have overlooked this. “The driver was able to drive his articulated vehicle “We were unable to brake in time and a collision occurred,” the police reported.
Lanes and emergency lane blocked
Both trucks were severely damaged. The two drivers escaped relatively lightly with minor injuries. “Both lanes and the emergency lane were closed and the A12 had to be completely closed from 5:40 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.,” the researchers continued.
Car traffic has now been diverted via Kirchbichl.
