Had a skid on the way to the emergency services – rescue car overturned

Date:

Spectacular accident Monday evening in Innsbruck: On the way to an emergency operation, an emergency vehicle skidded through the rainy road, overturned and ended up on its side in the adjacent dike. The crew apparently escaped lightly.

The accident took place around 8 p.m. on the B171 Tiroler Straße in the Innsbruck-Kranebitten area. “Due to the rain-soaked road, the vehicle suddenly started to skid, after which it overturned on its right side and came to rest on the adjacent embankment,” the police said.

A blessing in disguise for the crew
At the time of the accident, the ambulance was on its way for an emergency operation with a special signal, the Red Cross Innsbruck described in a broadcast. The three-man crew apparently escaped in horror. ““Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident,” the organization said.

The driver (29) is an experienced “SEF” (psafer emergency driver). As a precaution, the 38-year-old passenger was taken to the clinic for examination.

An hour long roadblock
The B171 was closed to all car traffic in the vicinity of the accident location for about an hour. The rescue car was recovered by the Innsbruck fire brigade.
