This Tuesday, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa presented its budget project for 2024, which amounts to 1160 million euros30 million more than in 2023 (+2.7%). Gipuzkoa’s deputy general, Eider Mendoza, has emphasized that these reports stand out for their “investor, social and transformative” character and are configured so that the territory “continues to grow”, both in terms of concern and of the social policyas in the development of the economy and employment.
The Deputy General presented the 2024 budgets together with the Deputy Lieutenant General, José Ignacio Asensio, and the Regional Deputy for Finance and Finance, Jokin Perona.
The proposal was approved by the Government Council and handed over this afternoon to the Chairman of the General Assemblies of Gipuzkoa, Xabier Ezeizabarrena. So, The period opens to debate the bills in the Foral Chamber, first in committee, then through amendments and finally in plenary.
In her speech, the General Deputy pointed out that “we are at a key moment for the future of Gipuzkoa, in a global situation characterized by the instability and uncertainty” and stressed that Gipuzkoa’s economy is “responding strongly”, so “we must take advantage of this to face the area’s current and future challenges.”
The budget will allocate a total of 515 million euros to the Ministry of Care and Social Policy, a figure “never reached before” in Gipuzkoa’s provincial accounts, which would mean investing 724 euros per inhabitant in social policy.
