Natural burials are becoming increasingly popular, also because of the minimalist grave care. This completely takes over nature in the “Forest of Silence” in Krems-Egelsee.
For more than four years now, there has been a forest in Krems-Egelsee that serves as a cemetery for the deceased. The demand from the population was very high, which confirms the trend towards natural burial. In the so-called Forest of Silence there are several hundred trees on an area of 2.4 hectares, of which about 200 have already been cut down. “Forests are often quiet and peaceful places that invite memory and reflection. The environment can provide a calming and reassuring place for the relatives,” explains Marco Flicker, head of Krems Funeral Services.
