Dramatic accident on the afternoon of Halloween Day in Vienna: As police announced on Thursday, a firecracker exploded in the hand of an eleven-year-old boy. As a result, the child’s finger was cut off.
The boy was playing on a playground in Liesing around 3:50 p.m. when fireworks were suddenly thrown at his feet. According to the primary school student, he wanted to pick up the fireworks and throw them away.
However, at that moment the fireworks – according to the police it was a prohibited flash device – exploded in the child’s hand. The boy was taken to hospital after emergency medical care.
The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the investigation against a currently unknown perpetrator.
