Hamas also on the list – Germany bans Palestinian network

Date:

After the pro-Palestinian protests in Germany became increasingly riotous, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) has now taken action. The Islamist-Palestinian organization Hamas and the pro-Palestinian network Samidoun are now banned in Germany. Faeser announced this on Thursday in Berlin.

The Samidoun organization is considered a central player in the anti-Israel and anti-Semitic protests in Germany. She is also said to have close ties to Hamas and other terrorist organizations. According to his own statements, Samidoun is committed to helping captured Palestinians, including terrorists.

Sweets on the day of the terrorist attack
Recently, anti-Semitic and inflammatory slogans were repeatedly chanted during Samidoun demonstrations in Germany, and the German Ministry of the Interior justified the ban on the organization. On the day of the bloody Hamas attack on Israel, Samidoun representatives also handed out sweets on Sonnenallee in Berlin-Neukölln and published photos of them on social media.

As a terrorist organization, Hamas aims to destroy the state of Israel, Faeser explained in a statement. “As an international network, Samidoun spread anti-Israel and anti-Jewish propaganda under the guise of a ‘solidarity organization’ for prisoners in various countries.”

Preparatory organization for a terrorist group
Samidoun is considered a frontline organization for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which is listed as a terrorist organization in Israel, the United States and the EU. Hamas has also been placed on the list of terrorist organizations by the EU and the US for years. In Austria, Hamas symbols may not be worn or distributed in public.

Austrian platform with close relationships
Samidoun itself is not officially active in Austria, but parts of the organization ‘Palestinian Solidarity Austria’ have repeatedly declared their solidarity with Samidoun. An ideological connection cannot be denied – their meetings were also announced with the anti-Israel slogan “Liberate Palestine from the river to the sea”. This refers to the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea – with Israel in between. The slogan can therefore be seen as a call to eliminate the Jewish state and is now also classified as anti-Semitism by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

In Germany, the case of Hamas and Samidoun is now about a so-called ban on activities, and for the German structures of Samidoun it is also about a ban on associations. The consequences are similar. All assets will be confiscated and internet presence and social media activities will be banned. Anyone who remains active for the organizations commits a criminal offense.
