In response to Western sanctions, Russia has extended the travel ban on Americans and Canadians. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow on Saturday published a list of 963 names, including Hollywood star Morgan Freeman. It was previously known that President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, as well as hundreds of members of the US House of Representatives, were affected.
Actor Freeman, who is not yet subject to Russian sanctions, is accused by Moscow of releasing a video in 2017 accusing Russia of a “plot” against the US.
From Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Trudeau, and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland’s husband, Graham Bowley, are now on the so-called stop list.
Response to Sanctions for Putin Daughters
The move comes in response to Canada — like the US — adding two adult daughters of Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin to its sanctions list in the wake of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Your assets in Canada will be frozen and you will no longer be able to do business there.
Putin’s daughter Katerina Vladimirovna Tikhonova is a technical director whose work supports the Russian government and defense industry, Washington said in early April. Her sister Maria Vladimirovna Vorontsova runs state-funded programs that the Kremlin funds billions of dollars for genetic research and that Putin personally controls. Little is known about Putin’s daughters. Tikhonova was born in 1986, her sister in 1985.
