Three cases in one day where police officers were injured during an official act. A man in Vienna-Währing, among others, shouted at moving cars with a wooden walking stick in his hand and injured a policewoman during the arrest.
The man, who police said was clearly mentally ill, was arrested and then taken to a hospital. Fortunately, the police officer only suffered minor injuries.
Open speeding violations
The second case was in Vienna-Leopoldstadt. A 43-year-old man assaulted two police officers after they paid him a visit to his home address over outstanding traffic fines of around €1,000. During the conversation, he told the officers that he could not pay the fine. However, during a search of the house, the officers found about 2000 euros in cash.
The 43-year-old then became aggressive towards the officers – arrest followed. Both officers suffered minor injuries.
