A 46-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in Vienna-Meidling on Saturday afternoon. The man crashed his two-wheeler into a car in Längenfeldgasse and fell, police said.
Serious head and chest injuries
According to Daniel Steiner, spokesman for the Vienna Professional Rescue Service, the motorcyclist suffered serious head and chest injuries. He was put into an induced coma at the scene of the accident and then taken to a hospital trauma room.
According to a witness, the 46-year-old had already fallen again before the collision without any outside influence. He was then said to have had an unsafe driving style. The alerted police officers discovered that the 46-year-old did not have a valid driver’s license.
Due to the severity of the injuries, an alcohol test was not possible. The Traffic Accident Command of the Vienna State Transport Department is leading the further investigation.
