A strong gust of wind hit a circus tent in Micheldorf (Upper Austria), where about thirty animals lived, on Monday evening. The circus staff, supported by the fire brigade, quickly took action. This prevented the llamas, goats, donkeys and horses from escaping.
Fortunately, the large circus tent had already been taken down and the artists of the circus in Micheldorf had already performed all the performances. The tent that housed the animals was still standing. Until a gust of wind knocked him over on Monday evening.
Animals were nervous
The Micheldorf volunteer fire brigade was alerted to the Heiligenkreuz district around 10:30 p.m. “The tent is torn and that is why it must have collapsed,” reports First Deputy Commander René Sperrer-Rachlinger. It is said that there were ungulates in the tent at the time, including llamas, goats, horses and donkeys. “You could see that the animals were very nervous,” says Sperrer-Rachlinger.
No injuries
“The circus staff acted professionally,” the deputy commander continued. “Our main task was to illuminate the space. The whole operation went very smoothly.”
The twenty Floriani helped move the animals. Neither animals nor people were injured in the accident. However, there was significant damage to the tent.
