A man from Yemen (35) did not want to leave his apartment in Salzburg. The owner met him for an enlightening conversation – including a bloody ending. The 35-year-old stabbed his landlord. He admits the accusations, but continues to make contradictory statements. . .
The apartment is not too large and is located on the ground floor of a house in the Parsch district of Salzburg. The Volksgarten is within walking distance and you can easily catch a glimpse of the fortress. Life is good here, but for a 35-year-old man from Yemen, his days at home were numbered. His lease has expired. On Monday morning he met his landlord (61) and a real estate agent in the apartment for the final delivery. But within seconds the situation escalated.
The perpetrator had a knife in his hand when he was arrested
The Yemeni grabbed a knife and stabbed the 61-year-old several times. The man collapsed and suffered life-threatening injuries. The real estate agent (64) fled the apartment and raised the alarm. The police arrived with a large contingent and were able to arrest the 35-year-old on the spot. He still had the knife in his hands. “Due to the continued presence in the city center, there was a patrol in the immediate area,” police said. The man from Yemen was arrested just five minutes after the emergency call. He was about to leave the apartment complex. He offered no resistance.
The Red Cross took the injured man to hospital. Despite his serious stab wounds, his life is no longer in immediate danger.
‘A quiet guy’ or ‘Satan himself’?
Investigators have cordoned off much of the crime scene. Forensics immediately got to work. “It was extremely busy. What a fuss at the beginning of the week,” said a resident during a local inspection of “Krone”. How did he experience the situation? “It was loud. You immediately noticed that something was wrong. It’s unbelievable that something like this happens in the middle of our house.” He prefers not to read his name in the newspaper. Like the other residents of the apartment complex, he was in quite a bind. Behind closed doors, people seemed more talkative. A resident of the house said the suspected perpetrator was a ‘rather quiet man’. There would have been no problems with him. He ‘spoke good German’.
A gentleman who lives in the apartment next to the 35-year-old saw things differently. “There was often a woman with him. You drank way too much alcohol.” Another resident said knowingly: “He has become more and more withdrawn lately. He once explained to me that he was Satan himself.”
Messer-Yemeni confesses completely
On Monday afternoon, investigators questioned the Yemeni man about the exact course of the crime. The Yemeni confessed to all accusations.
The 35-year-old gave conflicting information about the motive. He is in Puch-Urstein prison.
