At the Feldkirch Regional Court, a 31-year-old man was sentenced to prison for sexual abuse of minors. He had already committed the crimes years ago in the Kleinwalsertal.
The Feldkirch Public Prosecutor’s Office has made extremely serious accusations against a 31-year-old man. In August 2015, the previously innocent paramedic allegedly sexually assaulted two underage girls. One of the girls claims that he groped her breasts in a stable. He allegedly tried to rape the other minor in the basement of his home.
Which the suspect in the trial categorically denies. “The allegations are immense and have a scope I cannot even imagine,” the 31-year-old said. The Public Prosecution Service has already applied for a work ban for him. “For me, that would mean that I could never work as a paramedic or in any other social profession again,” says the defendant, who sees his entire professional career in jeopardy.
He suspects that the accusations from the alleged victims are “possibly a retaliation” by the duo. The reason for this could have been a conversation he had with the psychotherapist of one of the girls. He met the two minors in 2015 while recruiting new members for the Red Cross. Then he noticed that one of them was often not doing well mentally. Therefore, he always talked to her for a long time and tried to give her advice and support. The same goes for the other girl. He also drove it home after a rescue mission. But that was all.
However, a completely different picture emerged from the statements of the victims and witnesses. For example, a friend who was invited as a witness and the mother of one of the victims tearfully described what the girl had confided to them. In the end the matter was clear to the jury; the 31-year-old was found guilty as charged. This means: 21 months partial prison sentence, of which he must serve seven months. He must also pay the two victims a total of 4,000 euros in compensation.
