A wrong step almost ended in tragedy in the Tyrolean mountains on Friday afternoon! A two-year-old girl fell about 50 meters over steep terrain while walking on Zirbenweg in front of her mother and suffered serious injuries. The toddler had to be rescued with a rope.
Shortly before 1.30 pm, the little Austrian was on her way with her mother, an acquaintance and her children in the municipality of Ellbogen (Innsbruck-Land district) near the Almgasthaus “Boscheben” in the direction of the mountain station of the Patscherkofelbahn.
“On the Zirbenweg there, the girl fell about 50 meters over the slope over terrain that was sometimes 39 degrees steep,” said the police.
Flown to the Innsbruck clinic
The mother immediately sounded the alarm and set the rescue chain in motion. The little girl, who was seriously injured in the fall, had to be rescued on a rope by the emergency doctor helicopter “C1” and flown to the Innsbruck clinic.
