A 30-year-old inline skater crossed a zebra crossing in Vienna-Favoriten despite the red light on Saturday and was hit and seriously injured by a motorist who drove into it.
At around 10:45 PM, the inline skater was heading toward the city center on Laxenburger Strasse and was about to cross the intersection with Davidgasse when the pedestrian traffic light turned red. According to the police, the man was unable to brake in time, resulting in a serious accident. Behind the wheel was a 35-year-old who, coming from Davidgasse in the direction of Reumannplatz, wanted to turn left at the intersection with Laxenburger Straße.
Multiple leg injuries
This resulted in a collision with the inline skater, who immediately fell. As a result of the accident, the 30-year-old suffered several leg injuries, including at least one fracture. He was treated at the scene by emergency services and taken to hospital for further treatment.
