A trip with a loaded dump truck in Dorfgastein (Salzburg) ended fatally for a man from Pinzgau on Wednesday morning. He was trapped in the driver’s cabin and could only be saved dead.
On Wednesday morning, a 52-year-old drove a loaded dump truck along the factory road of a gravel factory in Pongau. Suddenly the Pinzgauer Angstellte came off the road after a sharp bend to the right. As police said in a statement, he fell 15 meters down an embankment. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on its roof.
As a result of the accident, the steering wheel became trapped in the driver’s cabin. When his colleagues discovered him shortly afterwards and alerted the emergency services, it was unfortunately already too late for the accident victim. The Dorfgastein and St. Johann fire brigades could only save him to death. According to police, the rescue of the Floriani was difficult and heavy equipment was used.
Officials say they are investigating how the accident happened. The Salzburg public prosecutor’s office also ordered an autopsy of the body.
