The Nagelaste in the Tyrolean Voldertal in the municipality of Tulfes (Innsbruck-Land district) fell victim to the flames on Sunday morning. Three fire brigades rushed to extinguish the fire, but were unable to prevent the cabin from burning completely.
Someone from the valley noticed the fire at 1,400 meters above sea level and alerted the fire brigade. “A road leads directly to the pasture, but the travel time is an issue – it takes a long time,” Simon Gatt, Tulfes Fire Department commander, describes the situation. Due to a shorter ride, the FF Großvolderberg was there relatively quickly.
Firefighters have prevented a forest fire
By that time, however, the Nagelaste was already completely engulfed in flames. To fight the flames, emergency services installed a fire main from the creek. “We then focused on protecting the forest,” explains Gatt. That was also successful, the fire did not spread. However, the stable and the adjacent farm were completely destroyed. The cabin is managed during the summer, but there are still no people or animals in it. So no one was injured.
For the time being, the emergency services were still busy with after-extinguishing work. It is not yet known what caused the fire and must now be clarified by the police fire service.
