Shortly after midnight, two residents of a residential building in Kuchl-Garnei noticed a fire. They immediately alerted the fire brigade.
When emergency services arrived on Saturday, they found a large fire on the roof of a residential building. The fire had already spread through the balcony to the upstairs apartment.
The residents of the house were immediately brought to safety. At the same time, firefighting work was started from outside and inside with several respiratory protection teams. Despite the wooden facade, the fire was under control after about 45 minutes.
About 100 rescuers on duty
Follow-up work was carried out in the roof area until 4.30am to extinguish any embers. After first aid from the Red Cross, some residents of the house were taken to the Hallein State Hospital with suspected smoke poisoning.
The volunteer fire brigades of Kuchl (Markt and LZ Jadorf) and Golling, the Red Cross and a police patrol with a total of more than 100 emergency services were in action. The fire caused significant damage to the home. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
