A large fire raged in the middle of the city center in the Aschau district of the Kirchberg municipality in Tyrol on Sunday night and threatened to spread to neighboring buildings. About 200 firefighters became “heroes” and prevented something worse from happening. But a farmer’s farm burned down. The cause of the fire was probably a technical defect in the electricity lines.
The fire broke out on Saturday evening around 9:40 pm at a farm in the middle of the city. 20 cattle were saved, but not the building. The owner is confronted with the ruins of his existence – just a few weeks before Christmas.
No evidence of arson
On Monday, district fire investigators, colleagues from the State Criminal Investigation Department and an expert from the Tyrolean State Office for Fire Prevention started looking for the cause of the fire. An incendiary sniffer dog was also deployed. “Due to the advanced stage of the fire, the investigation of the fire site was difficult, although clear tracks have been secured that allow conclusions to be drawn about a rupture in live wires,” officials said.
Further investigation will now be conducted to clarify whether these actually caused the fire. “There is currently no concrete evidence or proof of negligence or even deliberate action,” police said. The extent of the damage cannot yet be quantified.
