After the opening session of the new Polish parliament, former EU Council President Donald Tusk, who is considered the next prime minister, must come up with a new PIN code for his mobile phone. During the live broadcast, he typed it in for everyone to see – a camera also captured the moment. The recordings have since spread via social media.
Parliamentary sessions can sometimes take very long. It sometimes happens that MPs distract themselves a bit with their smartphone or reading the newspaper. However, you must be careful. After all, many television cameras are aimed at politicians.
Very careless use of mobile phones
Especially when dealing with passwords for cell phones and laptops, you need to be even more careful to protect yourself from unwanted looks. The party leader of the liberal Civic Platform (PO) was rather careless on Monday and quietly typed on his smartphone while the cameras were pointed at him. This is how the public got to know his extremely simple PIN code: 555555 (see video below).
‘Tusk has no luck with cameras and numbers’
“Donald Tusk has no luck with cameras and numbers. “We only recently discovered his credit card number and now the unlock code,” reported the website “Niebezpiecznik”, which specializes in data protection and IT security, and provided a number of security tips.
Government formation: Tusk has no chance for the time being
In addition to data protection issues, Tusk is currently fighting resistance from the right-wing conservative government of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, whose PiS party won the parliamentary elections on October 15 but does not have a majority in parliament.
While Tusk’s PO and other opposition parties had already drawn up a coalition agreement, Morawiecki was tasked by President Andrzej Duda to form a government. Opposition representatives accuse Duda of trying to use this maneuver to delay the turnaround. Because Morawiecki will not get a majority for his cabinet in parliament, the mission is doomed to failure. Only then would it be the turn of the current opposition to form a government. According to reports, this will not be possible until December.
