About a year after the brutal attack on the husband of American Democrat Nancy Pelosi, the perpetrator has now been convicted. The 43-year-old was found guilty Thursday of assaulting Paul Pelosi and attempting to kidnap Nancy Pelosi.
The exact sentence against David DePape will be imposed at a later date. He faces a prison sentence ranging from decades to life in prison. As reported, the right-wing extremist broke into the home of the then Speaker of the US House of Representatives in San Francisco in October 2022. The Canadian who lived illegally in the US targeted the top politician, who was in the capital Washington at the time.
Paul Pelosi called the police
Paul Pelosi alerted the police at the time. When officers arrived, the assailant struck the 83-year-old in the head with a hammer, fracturing his skull. A police officer’s body camera recorded the attack.
After his arrest, the perpetrator admitted that he wanted to smash Nancy Pelosi’s kneecaps if she would not give in to “the lies” of the Democratic Party. He also had other celebrities in his sights, including Hollywood star Tom Hanks, Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom, and US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden.
The right-wing extremist attacker was charged by both the federal judiciary and the local judiciary. The second trial in a local court has not yet started.
